What Number is On My Forehead: A Game of Questions

what number is on my forehead; a card game for kidsYour kids are too young for Poker and 52 Pick Up gets a little boring after the first few tries. I suggest the not-so-difficult but ever fun “What Number Is On My Forehead?” I love this game for helping my kids learn numbers and think through numeric logic. Don’t run away now, I promise it’s not that scary. If you know me at all, you know that I’m not into anything too complicated! This game is fun, silly and great on a rainy day. All you need is a deck of cards and a a few people with great foreheads!

Here is how you play:

1) Take out the joker and face cards
2) Shuffle deck
3) Distribute cards evenly to each player, face down
4) Have each player put a touch of water on the back of the card (lick thumb, use damp paper towel – helps it stick to skin)
5) Each player places first card on forehead with number side facing everyone else (remember, each player doesn’t know what is on their forehead
6) Ro Sham Bo for who goes first
7) If your turn, ask questions to try to figure out what number card you have
NOTE: you can’t simply ask if it’s a 5, a 2, etc. Instead, you MUST ask questions by using number of objects around you. For example, “is it the same number as the fingers on my left hand?”, “is it more than the number of lamps on the table?”, “is it fewer than the number of drinks on the table?”
8) Once you guess your card you can take it off your forehead and let the next person go

Kids love this game. Make the questions silly and the kids will laugh even harder! My son always cracks up when I ask, “is it more than the number of ears on your head?”. Who knows why, but it always results in a good 30 minutes of giggling time for the family.
