It’s almost Thanksgiving so I thought I would take a step back and think about all the ways we can say thank you to someone that matters. Here are a few of my favorites…
1. A lollipop and a note
Sometimes an entire bouquet of flowers is almost saying too much. The next time you want to thank someone buy a lollipop and a small gift tag card. Leave it on their pillow, front seat of car, desk at work or where ever it might surprise them. Write a little thank you on the note card and let them enjoy the rest.
2. Make a mug with your mug
On a blank piece of paper write in big words, “You Rock” or “Thanks” or “You Da Bomb”. Whatever message you want to send. Then take a picture of you holding the note. For not a lot of money you can make a mug with a photo on it and have it shipped directly to their house. I’ve used walgreens.com and cafepress.com.
3. Make a cd, old school
Do you remember back in the day when we would make mixed tapes for the people we liked? Oh, the 80s. Now you can download clips from their favorite talk shows, music or whatever they listen to and create a CD for them. A good friend recently downloaded some great interviews from the radio for me to listen to while I was recovering from being sick. Such a nice touch!
4. The notecard
Who doesn’t love getting a note card amidst all those bills and advertisements? The art of note cards does not have to be lost. A simple, “thank you for being you” can mean the world to someone. Taking the effort to write, stamp and send is a thank you in itself so it you aren’t a poet, don’t worry, a few simple words will do.
5. Movie tickets
Who doesn’t love going to the movies. A few free passes can make someone’s weekend. A great way to say thanks, especially if you don’t know them well enough for a more personalized gift. I’m always grateful for movie tickets!
We must give thanks to receive thanks. Write down three things you are grateful for every night before you go to bed.
Today I am grateful for:
1. My dog who walk with me every morning in the dark
2. My computer not yet giving out…hang in there girl!
3. My three boys and all the love and kisses I get daily
Dream big. Dream often. Climb a tree!
